WHAT ADDITIONAL FREQUENCY BANDS ARE BEING CONSIDERED FOR LTE?

Shares

Word Radiocommunication Conference 2007 (WRC-07) identified additional frequency bands for IMT, but most of the allocations are not really global:

• 450-470 MHz – was identified to IMT in all three Regions. The band is already allocated to mobile service on primary basis globally, but it is a very small band.

• 790-862 MHz – was allocated to the mobile service on primary basis and identified to IMT in Region 1 (EMEA).

• 698-806 MHz – was allocated to mobile service on primary basis and identified to IMT in Region 2 (Americas).

• 790-862 MHz – was identified to IMT in Region 3 (APAC). Many countries in Region 3 are already using the 850 MHz band for IMT-2000.

• 698-790 MHz – was additionally identified to IMT in Region 3 to the countries; Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, and India.

• 2300-2400 MHz – was allocated to the mobile service on a primary basis and identified for IMT on a worldwide basis in all three Regions.

• 3400-3600 MHz – was allocated to the mobile service on a primary basis in Region 1 and 3, and identified to IMT, by “country footnotes” in more than 50 countries. Using this band for mobile instead of satellite is subject to agreement. Certain power flux-density limits at country/regional borders apply.

• 3400-3500 MHz – was allocated to the mobile service on a primary basis in some countries in Region 2.
